Pooled Support Trust

The Pooled Support Trust is an estate planning tool designed to provide families, guardians or other third-parties with a flexible trust option to address long-term support or spendthrift concerns associated with passing assets under Will to certain beneficiaries.

The pooled Support Trust is solely for the benefit of the named beneficiary, and if the beneficiary is a minor the trust funds are not intended to relieve a parent or guardian of his or her duty to support the minor beneficiary. The inclusion of the Support Trust in one’s estate plan provides each grantor with the assurance of oversight of a professional trustee to ensure the grantor’s wishes are satisfied. The use of a corporate trustee also avoids the family discord that frequently occurs when a family member is names as trustee.
