Our Trust Administration Story

SERVING THE COMMUNITY SINCE 2008

In the early 2000s, a family man was awarded money in a personal injury settlement and established a Pooled Special Needs Trust. Two months after creating the Trust, he suddenly passed away leaving his wife and two small children with newfound burial and living expenses. The national, nonprofit trust administrator retained all the remaining money – totaling just over $200,000, and his family received nothing. Upon learning this, Elder Law Attorney, Lois Nafziger was outraged.

Money left behind in a Pooled Trust should be given to the family after a beneficiary passes away, not retained by the trust administrator. Determined to change this, Lois and others hatched the idea for Secured Futures and vowed to be the trust administrator that does not retain funds.

Since 2008, Secured Futures has worked to expand and build upon the concept of compassionate trust administration services. This philosophy has been tailored to fit the needs of Pooled Special Needs Trusts, Pooled Minors Trusts, Pooled Preservation Trusts, and Pooled Support Trusts.

When the organization pursued a one-to-one customer experience, it designed, built and introduced a software program to streamline the complex recordkeeping and accounting required for safeguarding needs-based government benefits – which also captures conversations, allowing us to service our beneficiaries faster and more effectively. This software has become the gold standard in the industry.

We will continue to advocate for beneficiaries and their families by speaking on their behalf and pioneering changes which benefit them.
